Coastal Farmhouse Style Living Room
Our original plan for this room was a more formal seating area with no TV. We’d planned to use our upstairs loft as the cozy TV watching area.
The plan was ideal in theory but in reality, the kids use the loft space and we spend most of our time here in the living room.
All this extra time at home these past few months helped me finally convince my husband that a big L-Shaped light colored couch would make our living room more comfortable. The trade-off compromise was that we also get a big TV for this room.
Win, win! In fact, I’m writing this blog post from this very couch while watching HGTV at this very moment.

Ordering a Couch Online
Before deciding on a couch, we re-arrange the three settees we had in the room. One moved to our Master Bedroom and the other two moved under the windows on each side of the fireplace. Once we figured out that we could shift the setup and still fit a new couch in the room, we began to research online.
With COVID-19, most of the local stores were closed. I know what I like and I’m super decisive, so ordering online without seeing the couch in person didn’t scare me too much. The reviews were stellar for the couch we ended up going with and I chose my color (Bihar Natural) based on review photos.
Even with the virus causing shipping delays, it only took three weeks to arrive to our door. It even came a week earlier than expected!
We’ve had it nearly two months now and we both think it’s the comfiest couch we’ve ever owned. It’s made in the U.S. and easy to clean. Every cushion and pillow cover is removable for easy spot cleaning.
Coastal Farmhouse Style
I brought in a ton of coastal elements like sea-colored vases and throws, pineapple pillows and coasters, a boho rug, ornamental console tables, a sand dollar & starfish tic-tac-toe set, Seagrass Baskets, and driftwood candleholder.
We also recently added DIY Horiztonal Board and Batten on the two walls on either side of the fireplace.
The coastal ceramic lamp is the most more recent addition. I scored it at the Pier 1 going-out-of-business sale. I’m SO sad they’re closing because so many of my décor items are from them (including all the pillows on the new couch).
The settees might not be what I’d ideally place under the windows if we had another room to put them in, but I can’t bear to get rid of them, so we made it work for now!
We had the builder do the shiplap on the ceiling and fireplace when we built this house.
The wall color is SW Agreeable Gray.
How cute is the wicker Pineapple basket in the photo above? It’s full of random clutter, but you’d never know it!
