Hey there! I’m Dawn, a creative solopreneur, busy momma, and Air Force wife with a love of Mondays, hand-lettering, dark roast coffee, hoop earrings, blogging, and traveling. Currently based in Charleston, SC, I believe in a spirit of community over competition and created this space to share my best business + lifestyle tips.
My mission at Dawn Nicole Co is to help my fellow bloggers and busy mommas turn their creative hobby into a profitable and flexible career they love! I believe that profitability is greater than popularity. I focus on growing my business and social media via organic, non-spammy methods.
Oh, you Blog? That’s cute.
I’m a 30-something military spouse with three kids who works full-time from home as a professional blogger and artist.
This is how most conversations about what I do go:
Person: “Oh you work? I had no idea! What do you do?”
Me: “I’m a full-time creative blogger.”
Person: Cocks head to one side and smiles awkwardly while saying “Ah…Oh! That’s cool.”
What I’m hearing is more of an “Oh, you blog? That’s cute.” kind of vibe.
I’m not offended by it in the slightest. Most people do not know that “Professional Blogging” is a legit job. Once they hear it is, they’re super curious about how you make money doing it.
I make far more money now than I ever made in my corporate HR job. The past few years of blogging, I’ve been bringing in over six figures. But more importantly, I have a career I love. Mondays are my favorite. I can’t wait to wake up and get to work.
Because I get so many requests about how I’ve created a successful creative online business, I finally decided to start this second blog to share more of the behind the scenes elements of my life, both as an entrepreneur and human!
Listen, Y’all. I’m an introvert. I am not comfortable being sales-y. I tend to make decisions more with my heart than my head. These are not necessarily the typical traits of successful entrepreneurs.
But I’m also smart, business savvy, driven, and insanely punctual. I use methods that create organic, steady growth. No spammy tactics allowed! And while there are undoubtedly many artists out there more talented than I, you’d be hard-pressed to find many people that are willing to put in all the hard work it takes to follow their dreams. I’m a person who is willing to put in that hard work.
Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work. ~Stephen King
Being dedicated to putting in the work is essential if you want to reap the rewards. Blogging is hard work. And a lot of it. You have to wear a lot of hats, be extremely organized, and love what you do. Blogging as a business, at its core, is a lot of heart and a whole lotta hustle.
Working for yourself is as good as it gets. So if this blog helps even one person create their ideal life, then it was worth all the many, many hours I put into it getting it up and running!
